. Utility Rebates and Special Rates .
. Every utility company in the geographic area we serve has a different policy and attitude
about this issue. Some of the most progressive are very aggressively trying to encourage
their customers to switch to HEAT PUMPS, and GEOTHERMAL.
. All of the Electricity providers in our geographic area share a common problem. They
sell a lot more power in the summer than they do in the winter. This requires them to
have enough generation equipment, transmission equipment, staff, and other resources
necessary to handle the peak, when three fourths of the year they only need a fraction of
those resources.
. By encouraging their customers to switch from older electric air conditioning and Gas
heating equipment to Geothermal or Heat Pumps, they win two ways. Because these
systems use much less electricity in the summer, they reduce their peak. Because their
customers begin heating with electricity instead of gas, they are able to provide power in
the winter that the Natural Gas provider was. This is why they want to give you an incentive
to go all electric.
. WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
